STAFF TRAVEL INFORMATION

WELCOME TO THE TEAM!

We're excited to have you join the team for what promises to be an incredible summer. Below, you'll find all the essential travel information to get to camp.

June 17th Arrival Details: All staff members are required to be at camp by 2:00 PM.

Staff Travel Options

  1. Driving to Camp: If you're driving to camp, please aim to arrive no later than 2:00 PM. Our GPS address is: 245 N Undermountain Rd, Sheffield, MA 01257.

  2. Flying Directly to Camp: If you're flying from within North or South America, book your flights into Albany, New York (ABL) or Hartford, Connecticut (BDL) airports. We'll arrange airport pickups for flights landing before 3:00 PM.

  3. Arriving by Bus or Train: We'll gladly pick you up from Pittsfield, Albany, or Springfield Bus or Train Stations. Ensure your arrival no later than 2:00 PM. Check schedules at www.amtrak.com or www.greyhound.com and book your tickets in advance.

  4. International Staff Arrival (June 16th): If you're arriving from overseas, fly into JFK Airport in New York on June 16th. International flights should land by 2pm, in order to catch the 4pm Greyhound bus from NYC Port Authority to the Springfield Bus Station. A team member from BUSC will pick you up at the bus stop. Greyhound busses can be booked here.

IMPORTANT NOTES

WEATHER AND CLOTHING:  Most days are warm, it can be chilly during the early morning hours and evenings.  It is necessary to bring warm clothes and a light jacket, and rain gear (raincoat and rain boots)  are strongly recommended.

SPORTS EQUIPMENT: It is important for staff to bring items that pertain to their individual program.  Baseball counselors should bring their gloves, etc.  If you have something special that would enhance your program area please bring it with you.  We can provide safe storage of any valuable equipment you would like to bring to teach your area.

APPROPRIATE ATTIRE: Staff are prohibited from wearing clothing that promotes drugs, alcohol, smoking or profanity. Earrings may not to be worn by male staff. Belly, nose, brow, and/or tongue rings are not permitted.  Staff will be asked to have their facial hair neatly trimmed or clean shaven throughout the summer.  

LAUNDRY: BUSC provides laundry service once a week.  Your laundry will be picked up and returned the next day.  Alternatively, you can do your laundry on your day off at public facilities in town.  

FOOTWEAR: All staff must wear socks and sneakers, or proper footwear associated with their sport.  Flip Flops/Slides are only permitted at the lake and pool.

NOTE: International Staff will have the option to purchase a basic bedding set consisting of: 1 pillow, 2 pillow cases, 2 fitted bed sheets & a light weight fleece blanket. Sleeping bags may not be used as your primary bedding. 

STAFF SHIRTS: All staff receive 2 BUSC T-Shirts to be worn on select days.
